On the positive side, it officially ended World War I, established the League of Nations, and set in motion the process for Germany to become a democratic nation. On the negative side, it forced Germany to accept full responsibility for the war, pay heavy reparations, surrender a large portion of its territories, and have its military severely limited. Additionally, it created a great deal of resentment in Germany which would eventually lead to the rise of the Nazi Party.
